Job Responsibilities

  • Develop strategic direction in consultation with respective stakeholders and management.
  • Ensure efficient workflow and progress
  • Enhance team building, individual and collective performance based on planning, monitoring and on the job training
  • The Deputy Director will be responsible for developing strategic plan, coordination with Friendship Senior Management Team and Consortium Focal.
  • S/he will responsible for implementation of activities related to climate-resilient infrastructure and renewable energy, in collaboration with consortium partners and local stakeholders.
  • S/he will closely work with the Sr. Director to provide strategic guidance and leadership in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of climate-resilient infrastructure and renewable energy initiatives.
  • S/he will facilitate effective coordination and collaboration among consortium partners and Sectors ensuring alignment of objectives and smooth execution of project activities.
  • S/he will lead efforts to integrate climate resilience principles into infrastructure design and development, incorporating innovative engineering techniques, nature-based solutions, and disaster risk reduction measures.
  • S/he will engage with government agencies, local communities, private sector actors, and other stakeholders to build partnerships, foster community participation, and promote sustainable infrastructure practices.
  • S/he will develop and implement capacity-building programs to enhance the knowledge and skills of project staff, partners, and community members in climate-resilient infrastructure and renewable energy technologies.
  • S/he will establish robust monitoring and evaluation systems to track project progress, assess the impact of interventions, and ensure compliance with quality standards and environmental regulations.
  • S/he will engage with policymakers and relevant institutions to advocate for policies and regulations that promote climate-resilient infrastructure and renewable energy integration, contributing to sustainable development goals.
  • S/he will facilitate the documentation and dissemination of best practices, lessons learned, and innovative solutions related to climate-resilient infrastructure and renewable energy, fostering knowledge exchange within the consortium and beyond.
  • Proven experience in leading and managing complex projects, preferably related to climate resilience, renewable energy, or sustainable housing.
  • Strong understanding of climate change affects, adaptation strategies, and renewable energy technologies.
  • Familiarity with the housing sector and energy landscape in the southern region of Bangladesh is highly desirable.
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Effective leadership and team management abilities, with the capacity to motivate and inspire project staff.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage with diverse stakeholders and facilitate collaboration.
  • Proficiency in data analysis and reporting, with experience in monitoring and evaluation methodologies.
  • Fluency in English and Bengali, both written and spoken.

Educational Requirements

  • Graduate degree in a relevant field preferably in any of the following Natural Resource Management, Disaster Management, Environment/Climate Change, Development Studies, Civil Engineering, International Relations, Sociology, Geography and Environment etc.

Experience Requirements

  • At least 15 year(s)


Additional Requirements

  • Age 40 to 45 years
  • At least 15 years experiences in project coordination and management, preferably in the field of climate change adaptation or resilience.
  • Depth knowledge on the development pathways in Bangladesh and needs in the society
