Job Responsibilities

  • Strengthen existing business of the cooperatives and explore new business opportunities, monitor their business records, assist to conduct market research and value chain analysis and bring them as profitable ventures
  • Facilitate business plan of the enterprises for increasing their income, assess their income periodically, link them with banks for access to finance and follow up their loan repayment
  • Identify and analyze opportunities to improve farm productivity of smallholders and connecting cooperative with the market to sell their products
  • Spend significant periods of time in the field for selecting and providing effective support to smallholder farmers to develop as enterprises and consult individual enterprises to improve its quality, capacity, environment and productivity to transform them to the upper level
  • Enhance and support to the cooperative smallholders beneficiaries for their animal wellbeing and ensure strong linkage with livestock department.
  • Play active role in producing competitive products by the enterprises and smallholders and compete in the market
  • Establish partnerships between coops and relevant stakeholders such as private sector, government agencies, service providers etc. for ensuring quality products and marketing
  • Understand and analyze farm productivity, cropping pattern, crop diversification appropriate for smallholder producers in order to enhance access to market
  • Assist local private sector to establish sectoral networks such as buyer network, input supplier network, service provider network etc.
  • Arrange and facilitate training program for enterprises/stakeholders/service providers to build their capacity.
  • Follow up and monitor the field implementation of market related interventions of cooperatives and enterprises
  • Assist to develop product marketing strategy of cooperatives and enterprises to explore new market opportunities for the value chain actors
  • Collect and track all marketing and sales related data of cooperatives and enterprises in a regular basis, document the key learning, & findings and anecdotes
  • Work closely with both public and private sector maintaining good communication with relevant government department, private sectors and market actors and Heifer team
  • Provide effective drive and support to increase income of cooperatives from Warehouse and other earning ventures.
  • Promote Proper utilization of cooperative fund and assist cooperative members to develop as enterprisers and receive necessary fund from co-operative fund and also from BASA Foundation if necessary.

Educational Requirements

  • Bachelor of Commerce (Pass), Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA)
  • Bachelor in Business Administration/ Commerce/ agri-business/ agri-economy/or related field

Experience Requirements

  • 3 to 7 year(s)


Additional Requirements

  • Age 24 to 45 years
  • Both males and females are allowed to apply
  • Minimum 3 (three) years’ work experience in market development and financial inclusion with private / development organization
  • S/he must have good experience in livestock and agriculture value chain development project and experiences with private sectors
  • Must understand and be able to articulate the appropriate roles of the private sector, government and civil society/NGOs in creating an effective market system
  • Clear understanding about enterprise development, agri-market systems (input and outputs) and farm economy.
  • Experience in profit analysis and business planning with enterprises and cooperatives.
  • Should have excellent understanding of rural markets, trading relationships and rural service providers.
  • Must understand the technical, social, and other constraints in the development field.
  • Experience of micro-credite handling will be considered as additional qualification.
  • Able and willing to ride on a motorcycle (with valid driving lice/nse) for field visits and travel by local transports
  • Presentable, smart, energetic, proactive, hardworking, self-motivated, positive attitude, committed team player, good analytical skills and dynamic
  • Strong in computer office programs like MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, internet use etc.
  • Ability to adapt and work with all culture, gender, religion, race, nationality and age
