Job Context

    This is a core position of Mukti Cox’s Bazar. Posting place is Head Office, Cox`s Bazar with field visit in sub/Branch offices of organization in Cox`s Bazar, Chittagong and Noakhali district. The main role of this position is to Coordinate, support and advise on the development and implementation of the organization’s Safeguarding and or Protection from Sexual Exploitation, Abuse and Harassment (PSEAH) policy and practices.

Job Responsibilities

  • Take a lead role in raising awareness about the organization’s safeguarding/PSEAH measures including the Code of Conduct.
  • In collaboration with HR ensure job adverts include safeguarding commitment statement, support in ensuring knowledge and attitude about safeguarding are assessed during interview, support HR to ensure background checks include questions on safeguarding/PSEAH, with HR provide training and advice to staffs and volunteers on these measures.
  • Work with project managers / staffs to ensure that programs and operations are integrating safeguarding/PSEAH measures into all activities.
  • Promote the participation of affected populations so they are aware of the organization’s PSEAH measures and Code of Conduct, and of their right to protection including how they would raise a concern about Sexual Exploitation, Abuse and Harassment (SEAH) and other safeguarding concerns.
  • Take a lead role in conducting safeguarding risk assessments and development of mitigation measures for the organization and program.
  • In collaboration with other organizations, work with relevant units to conduct service mapping and develop referral pathway for the organization that allows survivors access available services.
  • Work with managers to ensure that monitoring and evaluation (M&E) activities incorporate indicators to reduce SEAH prevalence.
  • Work with program managers to establish community-level complaints mechanisms that facilitate reporting of concerns by program participants, service recipients and other community members.
  • Work with managers to support staff / supervisees in setting safeguarding objectives on annual performance appraisals.
  • Work with communication and media team to ensure communication materials/contents on different media platforms do not carry identifiable information and uphold the dignity and respect of those sharing their stories. Participants must know, agree, and understand how their stories will be shared by signing an informed consent form.
  • Receive and safely document safeguarding reports, respond in accordance with the organization’s procedures, provide referral or next step advice.
  • Plan and support any investigation of an SEAH incident necessary. Discuss subsequent action required, to ensure the safety and welfare of individuals in cases of SEAH caused by the organization.
  • Monitor the progress of all cases, with the possible exception of those where the need for confidentiality may require this task to be undertaken by the Chief Executive or designate.
  • Liaise between staff and managers to access technical support on complex SEAH issues.
  • Coordinate regular reports to senior management on the implementation of PSEAH measures.
  • Network with safeguarding/PSEAH of similar organizations through participation in meetings and working groups.
  • Contribute to proposals to ensure safe programming and safeguarding activities are budgeted for.
  • Document and share project learning, best practices, and experiences in safeguarding measures.
  • Act as a “help line actor” of the office or unit on where to find information and materials on gender issues related to MUKTI’s mandate.
  • Safeguarding and PSEA: To meet the program’s objectives for safeguarding and PSEA implementation, make sure team members are protected from any harm, abuse, neglect, harassment, and exploitation. serve as a major resource for help, direction, and knowledge on safeguarding for developing a safe workplace. To ensure that safeguarding standards are used in every course of action, team members should practice, advocate, and embrace safeguarding policy concerns.

Educational Requirements

  • Postgraduate in any subject from recognized University with at least 5 years working experience in NGOs as mid-level supervisor in development program. Postgraduate in Gender Studies will be preferred.
  • To apply for the role, you must have the Foundations of SEAH Investigations training certificate.
  • 5 years of relevant work experience, especially in compliance and ethics; investigative practice skills; familiarity with Safeguarding and PSEAH.

  • Maintains confidentiality in information management, and communication, as appropriate.
  • Access to, or able to develop, a range of child and adult safeguarding tools and resources.
  • Ability to present information to senior management in a manner that enables them to take decisions.
  • Strong understanding of gender mainstreaming.
  • Self- motivated and hard work.
  • Ability to communicate with people from different cultures and time zones.
  • Excellent skills on report writing in English
  • Proficiency in MS Office tools, including Word and Power Point.
