Job Context

  • The Asian University for Women now seeks to appoint the Registrar to lead the University’s academic operations and professional services through this exciting next chapter of development and growth. Reporting directly to the Vice-Chancellor, the Registrar will possess a strong track record of delivery in challenging, rapidly changing organizational contexts and a passion for the University’s mission and values.
  • With extensive experience of leading academic services within complex organizations, the next Registrar will be able to develop and implement robust processes, services and systems to support significant growth. They will be an adaptable, innovative, and values-driven leader with the ability to oversee the core administrative functions and work collaboratively with other senior leaders to deliver strategic priorities.

Job Responsibilities

  • As a senior leader within AUW, provide strategic insights and leadership within areas of accountability, and play a leading role in the development and execution of AUW’s growth in its next phase.
  • As a leader across the academic operational areas, provide leadership and direction to ensure processes, services and outcomes are robust and impactful, and aligned with organizational needs and priorities.
  • Oversee key functional areas including IT, Communications, Procurement, Estates and Facilities, Maintenance, and Admissions.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant legislation and regulations.
  • Support good governance as Secretary to the Board of Trustees.
  • Measure and report on operational performance and develop plans to improve relevant key performance indicators, to help ensure internal and external stakeholders are provided with a high-quality service.
  • Use and promote data to inform decision making.

Educational Requirements

  • Bachelor degree in any discipline from a reputed university with related experience.
  • Significant relevant experience in leading academic operations in organizations of similar scale and complexity.
  • Exceptional influencing and relationship-building skills, particularly with other senior leaders to develop and deliver strategic priorities.
  • Proven ability to oversee the breadth of administrative functions.
  • Technical competence and demonstrable experience of developing and implementing robust
  • IT systems and processes, as well as institutional frameworks in relation to academic operations.
  • Demonstrated success in leading and engaging large teams through a period of significant change.
  • A strong understanding of the global challenges relevant to the higher education sector would be advantageous.
