Job Context

  • Samaj Kalayan O Unnayan Shangstha (SKUS) envisions a peaceful, prosperous, and poverty-free society that ensures everyone`s basic needs and rights. Since the 2017 Rohingya refugee influx, SKUS has worked in Cox`s Bazar district with children adolescents, women, and men. SKUS works to provide access to learning opportunities in a safe and protective environment, offer quality teaching/learning and increase refugee/host community participation and engagement in children`s education. Based on children`s and adolescents` rights, SKUS has established quality learning and protection Centre with support from different international donors, including UN agencies.
  • SKUS has an agreement with Plan International for the project of Education Cannot Wait`s Multi Year Resilience Programme (MYRP) for the Rohingya and host community at Ukhia and Teknaf Upazila in Cox`s Bazar District.
  • SKUS is looking for a suitable candidate for the immediate appointment of a Project Coordinator for the project as mentioned above in Plan International Consortium, supported by ECW.
  • Reportable to: Chairman/ Chief Executive, SKUS.
  • Duration of contract: Up to 30 November 2024 (Contingent to Donor Extension and Govt. Approval)
  • Job Location: Ukhiya, Cox`s Bazar

Job Responsibilities

  • Development of a strategic implementation plan based on impact logic, project objective, sub-objectives and activity planning according to the approved application,
  • Guide and support the project team to ensure effective project implementation and reaching the targets according to the donor agreement.
  • Ensure that the project’s M&E system is in place and that activity reviews take place at regular intervals to assure the quality of the interventions and follow the implementation plans of the project.
  • Ensure that work is planned and organized in a way that meets the needs of the beneficiaries in the most cost-effective manner possible.
  • Maintenance and monitoring of project plans, project schedules, working hours
  • Work closely with the finance department to ensure effective management of the project’s budget. Monitor, evaluate, and ensure that the project activities are consistent with plans, budget lines in full compliance with the donor’s regulations.
  • Coordination with various stakeholders, including PIB, SKUS management level, local administration, local government, sectors, and NGOs, and regular participation in the sub-sector meetings, including coordination meetings as representatives of SKUS.
  • Identify gaps in the workforce and organize appropriate training for staff and volunteers as required,
  • Monitoring of project activities, monitoring of project staff and reporting,
  • Reporting to SKUS management, PIB, government and other stakeholders,
  • Conflict management within the team and with other actors, as required,

Educational Requirements

  • Master of Social Science (MSS), Master of Development Studies (MDS), Master of Education(M.Ed) and/or any other relevant fields
  • Skills Required: Planning and monitoring, Reporting and Documentation, Risk Management, Team Managment and Suppervison

Experience Requirements

  • At least 5 year(s)
  • The applicants should have experience in the following area(s):
    Budget Management, Coordination, Planning and monitoring, Project Cycle Management (PCM), Project Management

Additional Requirements

  • Age 28 to 50 years

  • Proven technical knowledge and skills in the field of Education and Child Protection
  • Sound experience of leading on the coordination and writing of donor report.
  • Excellent knowledge of English and Bengali required (spoken and written)
  • Prior experience working in emergency settings or insecure environments and proven ability to work as part of a diverse team.
  • Skills :
  • Highly developed relationship building, influencing, negotiating and inter-personal.
  • Ability to analyze strategic trends and develop appropriate plans and responses to manage risks.
  • Proven capacity to supervise, train, mentor and coach staff members
  • Good communication skill both in written and spoken English
  • Additional Requirements
  • Previous experience in Education program in the Rohingya Response is highly desirable as well as sound knowledge of global guidelines of education
  • A strong commitment to PSEA, code of conduct, child safeguarding, gender-sensitive, inclusive and humanitarian works
  • Ability to work with the multi-disciplinary team
  • Flexibility to adapt to new roles, tasks, and situations
