    The Legal Manager will oversee all legal matters related to the company`s operations in the Ready-Made Garments sector in Bangladesh. They will provide legal advice, ensure compliance with laws and regulations, manage contracts, and handle disputes and litigation to protect the company`s interests and reputation.

Job Responsibilities

  • Legal Compliance: Monitor and ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and standards governing the RMG sector, including labor laws, environmental regulations, safety standards, and trade laws.
  • Stay up-to-date with changes in the legal landscape and communicate implications to relevant departments within the company.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure legal compliance across the organization.
  • Contract Management: Draft, review, and negotiate contracts, agreements, and legal documents, such as supplier contracts, distribution agreements, and employment contracts.
  • Ensure that contract terms are favorable to the company and align with its business objectives.
  • Dispute Resolution: Handle legal disputes, litigation, and claims involving the company.
  • Collaborate with external legal counsel when necessary and represent the company’s interests in legal proceedings.
  • Explore alternative dispute resolution methods, such as mediation or arbitration, to minimize legal risks and costs.
  • Labor and Employment: Advise on labor and employment matters, including employment contracts, compensation structures, and employee relations.
  • Ensure compliance with labor laws, regulations, and codes of conduct related to workers’ rights and workplace safety.
  • Intellectual Property: Protect and manage the company’s intellectual property, including trademarks, copyrights, and patents.
  • Enforce intellectual property rights and take legal action against infringement when necessary.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Coordinate with relevant government authorities and regulatory bodies to ensure the company’s operations meet all required standards and certifications.
  • Risk Management: Identify legal risks and provide strategic advice to mitigate potential liabilities.
  • Develop and implement risk management strategies to minimize legal exposure.
  • Training and Education: Conduct legal training and workshops for employees to enhance awareness of legal issues and promote compliance within the organization.

Educational Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Law (LL.B.) from a recognized university; a Master’s degree in Law (LL.M.) is preferred.

Experience Requirements

  • At least 10 year(s)
  • The applicants should have experience in the following area(s):
    Bangladesh Labor Law, Legal Compliances
  • The applicants should have experience in the following business area(s):
    Garments, Textile

Additional Requirements

  • Age 35 to 45 years
  • Only males are allowed to apply
  • Membership in the Bangladesh Bar Council and active enrollment as a practicing lawyer.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in legal roles, preferably with experience in the RMG sector or related industries.
  • Strong knowledge of Bangladeshi labor laws, regulations, and legal frameworks relevant to the RMG sector.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks, and meet deadlines.
  • Proficiency in English and Bengali, both written and spoken.
