Job Context

    Shushilan – a national NGO has been working in the field of Livelihoods, Environmental Resource Management, Health & Nutrition, Education, WASH, Human Rights & Good Governance, Disaster Management and People organization development in Bangladesh since 1991. Shushilan is implementing a project entitled “Improved Education Environment and Quality Project” with assistance from Penny Appeal, Canada. The goal of this project is to contribute to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goal (SDGs) No 4: “Ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all” by improving infrastructure, quality education and life skills at Dumuria Upazila in south-West coastal areas of Bangladesh.

Job Responsibilities

  • The Accounts and Admin Officer is overall responsible for cash and ledger book, expenditure statement, preparing financial reports, bank ledger/statement.
  • He should ensure that the expenditures are being made as per financial policies and procedures.
  • Should explore possessing skill in problem identification, problem solving and decision-making.
  • Accounts and Admin Officer will also maintain good communication and linkage related to financial issues with closely work with UC and Focal person of Shushilan
  • Preparation of program budget guidelines in consultation with the program management staff.
  • Ensure payment of salary to the staff
  • Ensure payment to suppliers on time
  • Able to maintain software based accounting system (Tally)
  • Maintain records of fixed assets
  • Provide logistics support during training, meeting, workshop etc.
  • Maintain and check the log books of the motorcycles
  • Ensure security of the assets and office
  • Tracking of fund status for proper reporting and ensuring timely fund requests
  • Overall responsibility on resource allocation and Budget execution.
  • Certify & review monthly/quarterly expenditure report
  • Ensure timely preparation and submission of the financial reports.
  • Ensure update the books of accounts on a regular basis.
  • Ensure compliance with Income Tax Act of the government of Bangladesh
  • Ensure compliance with VAT Act of the government of Bangladesh
  • All kind of positive motivation to support and response in emergency
  • In addition to that any other duties and responsibilities may assigned by the authority / organization which need to be carried out.

Educational Requirements

  • Masters in Commerce from a reputed university

Experience Requirements

  • At least 5 year(s)
  • The applicants should have experience in the following area(s):
    Accounts and Admin
  • The applicants should have experience in the following business area(s):
    NGO


Additional Requirements

  • Age at least 27 years
  • At least 05 years’ experience in financial management, admin & logistics support including clear understanding about budget preparation, budgetary control, financial report, budget variance analysis, asset management, dealing VAT/Tax, procurement etc.
  • Ability to ensure budgetary control
  • Familiar with soft-ware based accounting system
  • Has knowledge on VAT/Tax compliance
  • Strong critical and analytical thinking capabilities
  • Written and oral communications skills in English and Bengali
  • Computer literacy, including the ability to use Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Practicing gender, PSEA, Safeguarding, code of conduct and cultural diversity
  • Skill to operate virtual platform like Skype/Zoom/Team etc.
  • Able to drive motorcycle and will have valid driving license
